Police Seek Men Over Racial Abuse In Crawley

A man from Crawley has suffered an attack including racial abuse outside a superstore in the town.

In connection with the incident, officers would like to identify the two men pictured above.

Police said, as the 23-year-old walked through the Tesco car-park in Hazlewick Avenue on Wednesday July 1, an unprovoked fight began involving two other men.

Both were passengers in a white Transit-type van driven by another person.

They exited the vehicle and shouted and swore at the man as they approached him near an ATM.

At this point, around 4.50pm, an attacker punched the victim, knocking off his glasses.

According to officers, the man who was assaulted had visited Tesco on foot to buy gifts for a family birthday party that evening.

He suffered no physical injuries, but was said to be "shaken and upset" by the incident.

Investigator Jools Whittaker-Jones said:

“There were a lot of shoppers around at the time of this incident who would have been aware of the shouting.

"Anyone who saw or heard what happened or videoed this incident, or who recognises these two men, is asked to contact us either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1028 of 01/07."
