Power Cuts Continue To Blight Sussex As Homes, Schools and Attractions Affected

Nearly 2,000 properties are still being affected by power cuts today, after winds from Storm Eunice knocked out cables last Friday.

Homes along the coast in Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne are worst affected, with outages in Seaford, Peacehaven, Rottingdean, Brighton, Hove, Portslade and Lancing also affected.

Drusillas Zoo Park in Alfriston has been forced to close for a second day due to power cuts. Generators at the zoo are ensuring that the animals all have the light and heat that they need.

Peasmarsh Church of England Primary School in Rye has also closed today due to no water.

Netherfield Church of England Primary School, Bodiam Church of England Primary School and Parkside Community Primary School in Heathfield have closed today due to power cuts.

Little Common School, Bexhill-on-sea and Staplecross Methodist Primary School, Robertsbridge have closed due to no water.

Power outages are also still affecting water supply for some Bexhill and Battle residents, who haven't had water since Friday.

Residents can collect water from bottled water stations at:

Mount view car park, 3 Old Ladies Court, Battle, TN33 OAR

Bexhill Sea Angling Club, De La Warr Parade, Bexhill-on-Sea, TN40 1AY.

In more positive news, refuse collections have resumed in Eastbourne and Lewes, Worthing Pier has reopened and Southern Rail and Thameslink services have resumed their normal timetable, with the exception of pre-planned works on the lines.
