Premier League Preview: Brighton Face Aston Villa In Final Game Before World Cup

Brighton and Hove Albion will face resurgent Aston Villa this Sunday in the club's final match before the Premier League breaks for the World Cup.

Roberto De Zerbi's side will be in high spirits after scoring ten goals in three consecutive victories — culminating in a brilliant midweek 3-1 Carabao Cup win at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.

The Villans have enjoyed a positive start under new manager Unai Emery, defeating Manchester United in their previous league match before going toe-to-toe with the Red Devils in a 4-2 midweek League Cup reverse at Old Trafford.

Despite that improvement, Villa remain in the bottom half, while Brighton will hope to secure a top-six slot going into the international hiatus.

The sides have met on 29 occasions historically, with Brighton winning just five times, Villa picking up 15 victories and the other nine matches ended in stalemates.

Last season saw the Midlands side win both fixtures 2-0.

Injury news

Brighton's Jakub Moder remains absent with a long-term knee injury, but the Seagulls are otherwise at full strength.

Aston Villa will be without Philippe Coutinho (thigh) and Diego Carlos (calf) for tomorrow's match.

Possible line-ups

Brighton (4-3-3):

Aston Villa (4-4-2):

Prediction: Brighton 2 - 2 Aston Villa

Two sides thriving under new management should ensure an entertaining contest.

Unfortunately for the Seagulls, their opponents will pose a different challenge under Unai Emery to the dishevelled side under the hapless guidance of Steven Gerrard earlier in the campaign.
