If you'd like to attend a service this Remembrance Sunday, here are some of the locations holding services on Sunday as well as details of road closures.

Remembrance Services In Sussex:

Brighton & Hove

  • 9am Royal Sussex Regiment Memorial, Regency Square, Brighton

The Royal Sussex Regimental Association Remembrance Service at the Royal Sussex Regiment Memorial, Regency Square, Brighton, BN1 2FJ. Please arrive by 8.50am.

  • 11am War Memorial, Old Steine, Brighton

A short service at the War Memorial, Old Steine, Brighton followed by wreath laying. Please arrive by 10.30am.

  • 11am Easthill Park Memorial, Manor Road, Portslade

Wreath laying ceremony at at the Easthill Park Memorial, Manor Road, Portslade BN41 2FA. Please arrive by 10.45am.

  • 11am Hove Cemetery, Old Shoreham Road 

Two short wreath-laying ceremonies are being held in Hove Cemetery, Old Shoreham Road, BN3 7EF. The first at the North Gate Memorial, followed by another at the South Gate Memorial.

  • 11.30am  Rottingdean parade and service

A parade will depart from the lower High Street to The Green for a remembrance service at 12 noon.

  • 2.30pm War Memorial, Grand Avenue, Hove

A short service and official wreath laying ceremony, followed by a March Past, Salute, Parade to All Saints Church and Civic Memorial Service. Please arrive by 2.20pm.

Road closures:

Sunday 14 November

  • Brighton - Pavilion Parade, Old Steine, Castle Square, North Street, Aquarium Roundabout and Madeira Drive from around 10am to 12 noon.
  • Hove - Grand Avenue from around 2pm to 3.30pm; Church Road, Eaton Road and The Drive from around 3pm to 3.30pm.
  • Portslade - Locks Hill, Manor Road and Easthill Way from around 10.30am to 10.45am.
  • Rottingdean – High Street to The Green) from around 11.30am to 1pm.

Shoreham

  • 9:20am - Assemble at the Community Centre, Pond Road
  • 9:30am - March off via Western Road and Brunswick Road to the Church of St. Mary de Haura
  • 10:00am - Remembrance Service led by Reverend Canon Ann Waizeneker
  • 11:00am - Wreath Laying Ceremony (including Last Post, 2 minute silence and Reveille) at the War Memorial

Sompting

  • 9:00am - Wreath laying, 2 minutes silence and reading of names at the war memorial in the lychgate in the grounds of St. Mary's Church
  • 9:45am - Remembrance Service in St. Mary's Church

Southwick

  • 10:30am - Parade leaves Southwick Square car park (by the Co-op food store)
  • 11:00am - Service at War Memorial on Southwick Green

Peacehaven

  • 11am - Peacehaven & Telscombe War Memorial at Meridian Park, Peacehaven.

Worthing

  • 11am - Worthing War Memorial, outside Worthing Town Hall in Chapel Road. The two minute silence will start on the first stroke of the Town Hall clock at 11:00am, after which the Mayor's Chaplain will conduct the service.

Chichester

  • 11am - Litten Gardens. Uniformed, and other participants will assemble in East Street, from the Cross down to the pedestrian zone, and march to the War Memorial around 10.30am, led by the ATC Band of 461 Squadron.

Eastbourne

  • 10.25am - War Memorial. Parade from Terminus Road, representatives from the military, ex-service personnel, emergency services and other organisations will lead the procession along Cornfield Road to the War Memorial. Parade later continues via South Street. A number of road closures will be put in place between 10am and 1pm.

  • 3pm - Ruthless Memorial at Butts Brow to commemorate the crew of the WWII American liberator bomber, Ruthless, which crashed on the downland.  

  • 2.30pm - Our Lady of Ransom Church. Eastbourne Silver Band will lead a free Concert of Remembrance and Thanksgiving – including a tribute to all frontline workers.
