Details for appealed plans for 225 homes in Bersted are up for approval next week.
The current application is for reserved matters details of the development, or how the development will look and how it will function once built, with landscaping, building materials, height, and waste management, amongst others, is up for consideration by the council.
The development, north of Chalcraft Lane on Nursery Fields, Bersted, was refused in 2021 by Arun District Council due to a lack of a transport assessment and no section 106 agreement between the developer and the council (or mitigating costs for the development).
The decision was appealed by the developer to the planning inspectorate, who overturned the decision in April 2022.
Planning by appeal is an ongoing concern of Arun District Council, who wrote to Michael Gove about planning earlier this week, trying to regain more control over the planning process by reducing national housing targets in Arun.
The plans will be considered by the Arun’s planning committee on August 9th.
