Police have charged a man with a number of violent offences, following two assaults at a pub outside Ringmer.

Officers said that Walter Doe, 33, of Keld Close, Uckfield, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place.

The charges came after police received a report of a man with a knife outside The Cock Inn on Old Uckfield Road on 7 October.

The suspect was reported to have hit one man in the face and driven at another, causing an injury to his arm, before fleeing the scene in a VW Golf.

Officers attended and carried out extensive area searches, but with no trace of the suspect.

Enquiries continued and two days later on 9 October, Doe was arrested.

He has since been charged and remanded in custody to appear at court on 8 November.
