A dog has died after getting into trouble on the cliff at Peacehaven on Tuesday (1).
Newhaven RNLI said their large lifeboat recovered the pet at sea and returned to the station at around midday.
Coxswain Lewis Arnold confirmed the dog lost its life.
An RNLI spokesperson said:
"We have responded to a number of dog incidents just this week and are keen to remind the public how important it is to be aware of the danger for dogs on cliffs.
"Our advice is always to put your dog on a lead when walking close to the edge."
It comes after another canine was safely recovered from water off Wales over the weekend.
The springer spaniel reportedly got distracted chasing some seagulls.
