Santas To Run On Worthing Seafront For Local MND Charity

A charity in West Sussex that raises money to help people in the local community living with Motor Neurone Disease is inviting everyone to a 5k charity run along Worthing seafront.

The event will be held on December 10, starting at Splash Pad at 2pm.

This year, organisers have opened it up to other runners and running clubs and have introduced prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female winners as well as the best dressed 'Santa/Elf/Festive Dress'.

For those that want to have a chance of winning a medal there's a charge of £10 and each person who registers will receive a neck buff and medal.  Otherwise, the run is free to all.  Registration can be made in advance or on the day from 1pm.

Sue Acaster who is organising the run, lost her husband, Stuart, to MND in 2020 and running Santas on the Seafront is just one way that she has been fundraising to help the West Sussex South branch to raise funds to help people living with MND in the local community.

The charity provides services such as taxis for hospital visits, specialised massages, equipment and house adaptations as well as art therapy, which, they say, has proved to be beneficial for mental health.

Several local businesses and cafe's have offered discount on the day: Velo Coffee Co in Splashpoint are giving 10% discount on the day and RUN in Worthing will give 20% discount until the end of the year for anyone who runs on the day. Other businesses have also pledged to help.

Anyone of any ability can join in to walk or run and everyone is welcome to watch and support.
