Sea and land searches sparked by London couple camping at Cow Gap

A couple from London who reportedly travelled to Sussex to go camping triggered a large search operation on Sunday (May, 10) morning. The RNLI said the discovery of an empty car left overnight near Beachy Head sparked the launch of sea and land searches. Volunteer lifeboat crews joined police and coastguards in the hunt for the vehicle's occupants. Searchers eventually found a couple from the capital who said they travelled to go camping near Cow Gap. Police reportedly handed them fixed penalty notices.
