Only three days after Storm Gerrit tickled Sussex, yet caused a tornado in Manchester, a further official warning about strong wind has been given to the county.

Britain's official forecasters say gusty winds from Saturday morning (11am) until the early hours of Sunday (3am) could reach up to 75 miles-per-hour (65kts) on the Sussex coast.

The weather system coming in from the west is set to bring what meteorologists have labelled an active cold front characterised by strong winds and some heavy rain.

But they warn also of a squally region of weather near the cold front itself where the strongest gusts will be.

Watch the storm's predicted route and strength in this animation from Metdesk using data provided by Deutsche Wetterdienst, the German meteorological service.

The Met Office forecasters said:

"If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves.

"Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea.

"Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead.

"In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
