There's been what emergency services are calling a "serious fire" in Hastings this morning.
By 11am, firefighters said the flames had been put out, and an investigation into the cause is to be carried out.
Fourteen fire engines went to Marine Court on the seafront at 7.30am, according to East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
Firefighters said the flames were reported in the basement of the building, which is a set of shops with flats above.
The building is on the north side of Marina, the A259.
Shortly before 9am, the service told More Radio that crews were continuing to use main jets together with breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.
No casualties have been reported.
Police and SECAmb paramedics were also attending.
In a warning to residents and businesses nearby, ESFRS officials said:
"Please avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed to avoid breathing in smoke."
Many local roads remain closed, police said.
