A woman in her late 50s, who was a passenger in a car in Angmering, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries yesterday (December 21) after a collision involving two vehicles.

Police have arrested the driver of the other car on suspicion of a string of offences including drug driving.

It's after a Peugeot 206 and an Audi A4 collided on the westbound A259 Roundstone-By-Pass between the B2225 and Station Road in Angmering at 2.25pm on Monday.

A 58-year-old woman passenger in the Audi needed treatment at Worthing Hospital for serious injuries to her head.

The 22-year-old driver of the Audi and another passenger, a 22-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man, driving the Peugeot, on suspicion of several offences including:

  • drug driving,
  • possession of cocaine,
  • taking the vehicle without consent,
  • driving without a licence,
  • and having no insurance.

After being interviewed he was released under investigation.
