An 18-year-old motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a collision involving his machine and a car on the sea front in Hastings.

Emergency services attended after reports of the incident on the A259 White Rock, at 6.55pm last night (August 16).

According to police, the teenage motorcyclist, who was riding a Yamaha bike, suffered serious leg injuries which required that he be flown by air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The driver of the car involved in the collision, a BMW vehicle, was not injured.

For five hours, emergency workers closed the road to enable the vehicles to be recovered and for an investigation to begin.

An appeal for witnesses has been launched.

Information is requested on-line, or by calling 101, quoting Operation Freshbrook.
