Windy conditions caught some people out over the weekend, including a man and his daughter who were drifting out to sea, clinging to an upturned kayak.
It was all in a days' work for the D-class inshore lifeboat, which first launched at 4.45pm on Saturday (June 18) to help a windsurfer in Hove Lagoon.
The surfer was taken to safety by another vessel while the lifeboat crew were tasked with collecting three people from a small 'rigid inflatable craft' with engine failure two miles south west of Shoreham Harbour.
The three were all wet and cold, so were brought back to the lifeboat station before the crew returned to recover their boat.
However, on towing the craft, the crew then had to leave it at anchor and rescue a father and his daughter clinging to an upturned kayak that was being blown out to sea south of Lancing.
They were taken ashore and checked over by paramedics as the girl was very cold and shaken.
The crew then collected the boat that had been left at anchor and returned to the station.
The inshore lifeboat was also launched on Thursday, June 16th just after 11pm to a report of a woman in the water in distress at Worthing Pier.
Before they arrived, it was reported that she had come out of the water and was being attended to by emergency services.
It was then called again on Friday, June 17th at 10pm to assist Brighton lifeboat with a report of five people in distress in the water near the Brighton Pier.
While on route to the location, it was established that one person had gone into the water in distress and four others who were on the beach went into the water to try and help her.
All five people managed to get ashore ok and were checked over by police and ambulance services.
