Police are trying to identify the rider involved in a serious collision involving a motor scooter in East Preston this morning (August 31).

A green Kawasaki J300 motor scooter was travelling southbound on Station Road around 7.10am when it collided with street furniture at the junction with Vicarage Lane.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the rider.

At lunchtime today, police were urging witnesses, anyone with dash cam or CCTV, or anyone who saw the vehicle being ridden in the area prior to the crash, to come forward.

Emails are accepted on collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Hawthorns.

A section of the road was still closed at mid-day, and motorists were being advised to seek alternative routes.
