Stolen Van Abandoned After Turners Hill Crash — Driver Hunted

Police are looking for the driver of a stolen van after it was crashed into a tree in Turners Hill — from where whoever was behind the wheel ran off.

Officers said the story began with the theft of the van from a builders' yard in Rowfant.

The vehicle had gone missing around 2pm, from the location near Wallage Lane, an unclassified road east of Crawley.

An hour later, around 3pm, the van then collided with a tree in East Street, in the village of Turners Hill, little more than a mile away.

Police believe the male driver was unhurt, because he was seen to get out, and run away.

Debris and oil left by the collision's damage meant that firefighters and highways staff from West Sussex also attended the scene.
