Strike Action To Affect Rail Services For Next Four Days

Strike action by the RMT will affect all Southern services this Thursday and Saturday (August 18 & 20) with a reduced service on Friday and Sunday.

The message from Southern Railway:

  • Thursday 18 & Saturday 20 August - Only travel if your journey is absolutely necessary. We are running a very limited service with services finishing much earlier than normal and we are expecting severe disruption.
  • Friday 19 & Sunday 21 August - Only travel if your journey is absolutely necessary. Trains will start later than normal, will be extremely busy and you may not be able to board. Please be aware TfL are also affected by strike action on Friday 19 August. More info here.

If you must travel, always check your journey immediately before at National Rail. If your journey crosses over with any other operator you should check their website for their travel advice.

For more information, see our industrial action webpage.

Friday August 19th

Bus, London Overground and tube strikes will affect all Transport for London services.

The disruption from an RMT strike day will have a knock-on effect as the railway will be unavailable overnight meaning that trains and crew will not be in the correct locations to provide a normal service. This means that first services will begin much later than normal and we will be operating a Sunday service - don't expect trains to be running before 8am. This information also applies to services on Sunday 21st, following Saturday's strike.

Assume first services of the day will be extremely crowded and you may not be able to board your chosen service.
