Strong Winds To Batter Sussex Coast This Wednesday

Weather forecasts show winds of up to 50mph along the Sussex coast this Wednesday with rain overnight and early morning.

Winds will pick up from Tuesday morning into lunchtime, then die down again before picking up and strengthening throughout Wednesday, before dying down again by Thursday lunchtime.

The Met Office says it's part of an active jet stream that will drive a series of low pressure systems across the UK.

"There is more unsettled weather for many on Tuesday, with rain and showers crossing the country, before the arrival of another deep low-pressure system on Wednesday. The development of this system will be closely watched as it brings another wet and windy day with the potential for National Severe Weather Warnings to be issued."

Updates to follow.
