Train operating company Southern reported this morning (July 30) that a complete suspension of services west of Worthing had ended.

Earlier, the provider warned of early morning disruption today on railway lines heading towards Littlehampton, Bognor, Portsmouth and Southampton.

Before 7am, Southern Rail was reporting two separate incidents.

There has been a points failure in the Angmering area, and a level crossing failure near Barnham, where barriers were left in the 'up' position.

The rail company said train tickets would be accepted by drivers on the Stagecoach 700 service.

It was also permitted to use existing tickets, at no additional cost, on South Western Railway services from Southampton and Portsmouth to Clapham and London.

This was in addition to rail replacement buses covering for planned engineering work at Angmering, Littlehampton, Ford, Barnham and Bognor Regis.

Track provider Network Rail said engineers were due to be attending.

Southern Rail had earlier indicated that services might return by 10am today.
