Residents in East Sussex who are struggling to keep warm, buy food or pay bills may still be able to receive support from the Government's Household Support Fund.
In October of last year the Government allocated £500million to the Household Support Fund, to be distributed around England in order to help families with the essentials as the country recovers from the pandemic.
East Sussex was allocated just under £4million, West Sussex, just under £5million and Brighton and Hove just over £2million.
Support is still available in some areas until March 31st, 2022.
Lewes District Council says it has received limited extra funding and is inviting those eligible to apply.
The Household Support Fund is available to anyone on one of the following benefits:
• Universal Credit
• Housing Benefit
• Pension Credit
• Council Tax Reduction Benefit
• Child Tax Credit
• Working Tax Credit
• Income Support
• Income Based Job-Seeker’s Allowance
• Income Based Employment & Support Allowance
You must live within the council’s area, be over the age of 18, and be finding it difficult to pay for heating, lighting, water bills or food.
Key update: If you applied last year and didn’t complete the process you do not need to start again – you are able to login and pick up where you left off to finish and submit your application.
