Eastbourne Taxi Office Theft: Can You Recognise This Suspect? (Image: Sussex Police)

A bank card has been misused multiple times, stealing a disabled man's allowance, after it was stolen from a taxi office in Eastbourne.

Sussex Police are now trying to identify the woman shown in the CCTV image above, who is a suspect in their investigation.

According to officers, just after midday on Monday 20 July, the victim visited Sussex Cars taxi office in Pevensey Road, Eastbourne, to order a taxi.

Unfortunately when leaving she she forgot her mobile phone, an Experia L10 valued between £200 -300, which she had put down on the seat next to her, in a case containing her bank card.

Officers said CCTV from the taxi office showed a man and woman entering the office.

The woman apparently saw the phone sitting on the seat, and sat down next to it whilst at the same time sliding it along the bench so it was concealed by her body.

Using a facemask, she then picked up the phone, to conceal it in her handbag.

Then, she quickly stood and left.

The card was then used four times before the victim realised and cancelled it.

PC Jason Morgan said:

"The money that was spent included funds for her husband's disability living allowance, causing her yet further stress.

"This was a particularly despicable sneak theft and we are sure someone can put a name to this suspect.
