A Sussex enterprise which offers exhilarating speedboat sightseeing trips of the area has received a prestigious tourism award.
Sussex Boat Trips business owner John Simcock alongside volunteer Trainee Coxswain on the RNLI Newhaven Lifeboat, won the Gold Award in the New Tourism Business category at the South East of England Tourism Awards for his Sussex Boats Trips business.
At the glitzy Beautiful South Awards Dinner at The Brighton Grand on Monday April 25, the tourism industry came together to celebrate the achievements of businesses from across the region.
Sussex Boat Trips opened for business in June 2021 offering trips along the East Sussex coast from their base in Newhaven.
John Simcock said:
“I’ve met so many amazing people along the way and the encouragement shown by everyone who’s been out on the boat with me is incredible.
"To have so many distinguished figures within the tourism industry recognise our business for the success it is, is simply mind blowing!”
In the past 10 months, Sussex Boat Trips has welcomed almost 2,000 people onto “Illuminate”.
The company hopes to continue its recent successes by offering new experiences this summer including a three-hour trip in August to witness the Eastbourne International Airshow from the sea.
It also aims to make activities more accessible to schools and colleges so as to highlight the numerous environmental processes impacting the coastline.
