Sussex braced for heavy rain & possible flooding

Today (19 December), is the second day of five consecutive days of official weather warnings for rain across Sussex. Met Office forecasters say from now until Sunday night (22 December), Sussex could see bursts of up to two inches of rain falling in a short time. Although there will be dry spells between the downpours, experts say it won't allow enough time for the ground to drain properly. Meanwhile, with so much rain expected, the Environment Agency is keeping a close eye on the rivers and streams in Sussex. A number of flood alerts were put in place overnight, but more could be issued if the heavy rain arrives as predicted. You can keep an eye on your area, using the Environment Agency’s interactive map.   More Radio is continuously dedicated to providing a quality news service on-air and online, reporting local stories that matter across Sussex.
