Sussex Charity Football Match And Fun Day Held In Memory Of 'Grandpa'

This Sunday (July 3) will see a charity football match and fun day held to raise funds for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice in memory of David Geddes, who died in January 2021.

The action will kick-off at the grounds in Culver Road, Lancing at 2.15pm, with the event getting underway ay noon.

David's grandson, Nathaniel Whessell, is one of the organisers of the match,

He said:

"Our Grandpa was a big supporter of Chestnut Tree House and was heavily into his football.

"It’s a shame he isn’t around to see it, but I know he’d be really proud.

"Chestnut Tree House was important to him, and I know he’d be pleased we’re continuing to raise money for the charity in his memory.”

The family held their inaugural event last year at Portslade Sports Centre, raising more than £2,500 for the children’s hospice.

“This year, we want to go bigger and better,” adds Nathaniel. "As well as the football match, there will be a bouncy castle, raffle, some fun activities for the kids, a bar serving refreshments, hot food, freshly prepared pizzas and much more.

Tickets to the event are £3.50 for adults, with children aged 11 and under able to attend for free.

Further details and a link to purchase tickets are available online.
