Sussex Children's Charity Delivers 13,000 'One Kind Word' Calendars To Schools

Sussex charity Safety Net has delivered over 13,000 calendars to primary school children in Brighton & Hove, designed for local children by local children.

The theme of the calendars was One Kind Word with a picture designed for each month by primary school children, focusing on Anti-Bullying Alliance’s anti-bullying week, which fell in November.

Pictures were chosen through a competition, with the best 12 designs picked for the calendar.

Safety Net Operations Manager Jen Tulloch said:

“It’s a great way for families to plan for the year ahead, as well as raising awareness of Safety Net. The charity carries out important work in schools and the community in helping children to feel and be safe - wherever they are, whether online or offline.”

Brighton & Hove Jubilee Library will be displaying all the entries during January.

“We’re so happy that we’ll be able to share the children’s brilliant work in a space that’s accessible to all – thank you very much Brighton & Hove Jubilee Library,” says Jen.

“We were impressed with the high level of entries. It was quite a task to choose our final 12 from the hundreds of entries we received from schools across the city,” explains Jen, adding:

“We would not have been able to deliver these calendars without the help of our incredible volunteers. We’re extremely grateful to them. It was no mean feat to get so many calendars to the schools.”
