High winds look set to continue along the Sussex coast, as parts of the More Radio area receive their third gale warning within a week.
Today's weather alert from the Met Office is, again, of the 'yellow' category, meaning that people in the area should check the information to see if they are likely to be affected, and take measures to protect life and property if relevant.
The warning states:
"Gales or severe gales in association with heavy showers may lead to disruption to transport and infrastructure."
In detail, Met Office forecasters said today's strongest west-northwesterly winds are reserved for the English Channel coast, along with southwest Wales and southwest England.
Wind gusts of between 50 and 55 mph are likely quite widely, with potential for gusts of 65 to 75 mph along the most exposed coasts and hills, including the South Downs and the Sussex coast.
These strong gusts will also drive squally showers, bringing hail and the risk of thunder.
Winds will ease from the west during the evening.
Further wet weather expected both on Monday (New Year's Day) and Tuesday.
Forecasters added:
"If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves.
"Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea.
"Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead.
"In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
