Sussex Parents And Carers Invited To Free Children's Mental Health Learning Workshops

Parents and carers in Sussex are being invited to a series of online workshops in order to help children manage a range of mental health conditions.

The free event on Tuesday, May 16 is run by Sussex Partnership NHS Trust and is open to any parent or carer in Sussex, whether or not their child or young person is open to our child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).

Kate Stammers, Clinical Lead for Sussex CAMHS, said:

"We recognise the impact of the pandemic on children's mental health and want to offer direct support to parents and carers to help them help their child.

"This workshop, open to all parents and carers in Sussex, gives people a chance to learn more about some of the most common mental health needs experienced by children and young people today.  You can also submit any questions related to these workshop topics before the event and our clinicians will do their best to answer thse in their presentations."

Questions will need to be submitted in advance by emailing melissa.baitmansour@spft.nhs.uk.

The 90-minute workshops take place at 9.30am, 12.30pm and 7pm focusing on five key areas; anxiety, sleep, managing self-harm and suicidal thoughts, Autistic Spectrum Conditions and challenging behaviour, and eating disorders.

Each workshop will be led by an experienced clinician and families can choose which one to attend with recordings of the others being made available afterwards.
