Sussex Police arrest Royal Protection Officer on suspicion of rape and stalking

Sussex Police have arrested a Royal Protection Officer on suspicion of rape and stalking. The officer, an inspector for the Metropolitan Police, was arrested on August 22, and has since been placed on restricted duties while an investigation continues. Police said the allegations have no relation to the officer's role as a royalty and specialist protection command officer. Sussex Police are now leading the investigation. Officers said the Metropolitan Police made a mandatory referral to police watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which decided the force's internal standards department should carry out its own investigation into the claims.
