Sussex Police Officer Faces Misconduct Hearing Over 'Pinging Ruler Across Buttocks' Of Colleague

A Hastings-based police officer is due to appear at a standards hearing next Tuesday (24) over allegations of misconduct.

According to Sussex Police, Temporary Detective Sergeant Paul Elrick CE540 will face allegations that his conduct has amounted to a breach of Standards of Professional Behaviour, in respect of authority, respect and courtesy.

It's alleged that Mr. Elrick sent Facebook messages to a female colleague while he was off duty on March 30 (2020), which she felt were inappropriate and unwanted.

The Detective Sergeant is also accused of making inappropriate comments to the same colleage and pinging a ruler across her buttocks on June 16 (2020).

On the same day, he allegedly squeezed the same colleague's shoulders and tickled her which was not wanted, and she considered inappropriate.
