Two Sussex Police officers have been sentenced for assaulting a 14-year-old girl while they were arresting her in Eastbourne.
The pair appeared at Folkestone Magistrates Court, which heard how PC Kris Green, 36, had hit the girl in the head as they tried to get a 'spit hood' on and how PC Deborah Sands, 48, had used an incapacitating spray on her.
The judge ordered them to complete 200 hours of unpaid work each and pay the victim £500 compensation each.
The incident happened in May 2020 and the officers have been suspended since then.
Following the court case, Sussex Police will now be taking separate disciplinary action against them.
