Disruption continues to railway services throughout Sussex today and, especially, tonight, as a result of industrial action.
Today, Saturday 29 July, members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT), consisting of station staff, guards and other workers but not drivers, are staging the third of three days of national strike action.
Their dispute with railway employers centres on pay, jobs, pensions and conditions.
Southern Rail, part of Govia Thameslink, says its services in Sussex will be affected in these ways:
Brighton Station will close at 9pm tonight. Passengers are recommended to complete all journeys by 7pm today.
The last scheduled train to leave Brighton for London is at 8.39pm.
The last scheduled train leaving London Victoria for Brighton will be at 7.30pm, arriving at 8.48pm.
Because of these, there will be no trains in the late evening between Haywards Heath and Brighton, including services that would usually go to Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Preston Park.
Likewise, no trains will run between Hove and Brighton.
Also, the services to Lewes, including intermediate stations Falmer, Moulsecoomb and London Road, won't run.
No Southern services will run to and from Portsmouth and Southsea, with trains starting and terminating at Havant.
The line between Uckfield and Oxted might be affected by short-notice cancellations today, though Southern has indicated it is trying to use replacement buses for these services. Allow an extra 60 minutes for travel.
