Sussex Sisters Take On South Coast Challenge For Parkinson's UK

Katie and Gemma / Gemma and Katie

Sisters, Gemma Morris, 35, from Aldershot, and her sister, Katie Wright, 31, from Haslemere, will be walking 100km as part of the two-day South Coast Challenge to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK.

Starting in Eastbourne on Saturday 3 September, the sisters will trek up Beachy Head, over the Seven Sisters, and along the famous South Downs.

The pair have already raised over £800 of their £1,190 target for Parkinson’s UK, a charity close to their hearts. Katie’s father-in-law, Terry Knode, 77, was diagnosed with the neurological condition over eight years ago.

Gemma and Katie said:

“Terry is an incredible, gentle giant who loves life and has the most wonderful spirit. He is a true family man who would do anything for anyone.

“Since his diagnosis, we have seen first-hand how Parkinson’s affects not only the people diagnosed, but their loved ones also. We have seen the fight and the bravery battling this condition requires, along with the immense amount of resources and support from charities such as Parkinson's UK.”

Ann Rowe, Head of Regional Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, said:

“We want to say a huge thank you to Gemma and Katie for supporting Parkinson’s UK. Without our amazing fundraisers, the work we do just wouldn’t be possible.

“Together, we can drive forward pioneering research so we can develop better treatments and a cure for the condition.”
