Teenagers arrested in connection with attack on two men visiting Brighton

Police have arrested two teenagers in connection with an assault on two Icelandic men on a trip to Brighton, leaving one of the victims with facial fractures. Officers responded after reports of a group, wearing black clothing, accosting the two men in West Street around 4.30am on Saturday (October, 19). Police said the group beat them and sprayed them in the face with an unknown substance. A pair of teenage boys, both aged 17, from Lancing and Littlehampton, were detained after the incident on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm and suspicion of possessing a weapon for discharge of a noxious liquid. Police said the 17-year-old from Lancing was also arrested on suspicion of assault, going equipped for theft and possession of a class A drug. DS Sebastian Day said: "This was a nasty assault on two visitors to the city. "We are keen to hear from any witnesses who saw the incident or from anyone who has information about it." Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 216 of 19/10.
