Theft Of 9ct Gold Necklace In Bexhill Prompts Police Appeal

Police are appealing for information following the theft of a 9ct gold chain necklace on a footbridge in Bexhill.

Officers say a 20-year-old local man was walking across the bridge which connects Station Road to Endwell Road when he was approached from behind by a man demanding money.

The incident happened just after 4pm on Sunday 7 June, and there were several people in the area at the time who police would like to speak to.

The suspect made off from the scene having stolen the victim’s 9ct gold chain necklace.

He is described as a white man in his 30s or 40s, about 6’, of slim build, with light coloured shaved hair and slight stubble. He was wearing what police have described as a ‘grubby’ looking white or grey T-shirt and light blue chino-style trousers.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 785 of 07/06.

“We hope this conviction goes to show that any such behaviour will not be tolerated.”
