A methodical approach to breaking into increasing numbers of outbuildings near Battle has been observed by Sussex Police.

Officers said they've noticed a "sharp increase" in the quantity of sheds and similar premises suffering break-ins.

The particular approach being used by burglars is to cut through any locks that might be protecting the doors.

Police warn that both residential and business properties are at danger of break-ins.

A new appeal has gone out from police to all property holders, to report any suspicious behaviour and check the security of outbuildings and sheds.

Sussex Police has offered advice on property protection, online: http://orlo.uk/dpck7
