Third blaze breaks out at recycling centre near Chichester in the space of a year

Fire crews were called to a household recycling centre near Chichester for the third time in the last 12 months. One fire engine remains at the scene this morning (Tuesday, 3) after West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the site in Westhampnett at around 6pm last night. Firefighters said four engines attended blaze, where around 200 tonnes of waste was alight. Nearby residents were urged to keep windows and doors closed. With the wind blowing south east they also warned that the flames would be visible to motorists on the A27
