Three Arrested After Serious Stabbing In Brighton

Three people have been arrested after a man was reportedly robbed and stabbed in Brighton on Friday (March 26).

Police said the 18-year-old victim suffered a stab injury to the chest after being approached by three suspects who took his mobile phone in Church Street, at around 1.30am.

The assault is believed to have happened near Mount Zion Place and the victim subsequently made his way towards the Clock Tower where emergency services were called by a member of the public.

According to officers, he remains in hospital and his injury is serious but not thought to be life-threatening.

Two men, aged 33 and 38, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and wounding with intent.

A third suspect, a 39-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They remained in custody for questioning on Friday afternoon.

Detective Inspector Simon Morgan:

"Our investigation is progressing quickly, and we are appealing to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who has information that may assist with our enquiries.

"The victim suffered a serious injury and we are determined to establish who is responsible and bring them to justice.

"We are grateful to the member of the public who responded swiftly in ensuring the victim could get the medical care he needed.

"Please be assured that incidents such as this are extremely rare and there is not thought to be a threat to the wider public at this time."
