Three arrested following police pursuit along A27

Police have arrested three men following a police pursuit from Brighton along the A27 to Lewes. Officers said around 8.35pm last night (Thursday, 27), they became aware of a blue Ford Transit van in the city, with the number plate identified as being connected with a number of stolen vehicles. It was located heading eastbound on the A27 at Falmer and pursued to Nevill Road in Lewes, where the van and a police car left the road and went down a grass embankment. Police said no injuries were reported. A 23-year-old man from Littlehampton was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs, going equipped for theft, theft of a vehicle, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and driving without a valid test certificate. An 18-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for burglary and aggravated vehicle taking. A 22-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent, going equipped for theft and aggravated vehicle taking.
