Sussex based Rose Media Group (RMG) is making an impact in the local community by hosting a unique festive fundraiser with a quirky twist – they’re asking invited guests for pants!
Pants are one of the least donated but urgently needed items in humanitarian aid, as highlighted by their charity client Hope and Aid Direct.
On Tuesday December 17 at RMG’s headquarters in Burgess Hill, the local business community will gather for an event that will see a lot of pants flying around.
The occasion marks the start of ‘The World Needs Underwear’, launched to raise awareness of the critical shortage of underwear donations in humanitarian aid efforts.
Aneela Rose, Founder and MD of RMG expressed her thoughts:
“In general, people don’t think about donating underwear to charities and yet it is one of the most needed items – who knew?
"It’s been a revelation discovering this from our client and we haven’t hesitated in jumping on this to support them.”
She added:
“Our goal is to collect 100 pairs of underpants which can be sent to Ukraine and help people living in dire conditions without access to clean underwear or water.
"Meeting such a fundamental need is something we’re passionate about which is why we’re proud to host this event but Hope and Aid Direct need many more!”
Why pants? Charles Storer MBE, Founder of Hope and Aid Direct explains:
“Donations of underwear have always been scarce.
"We’re asked time and again for new underwear which is the number one garment people want when displaced by war or a natural disaster.
"You can survive in your clothes for a while, but not changing your underwear can have severe health implications.”
How can you help?
The public and corporations are invited to get involved in The World Needs Underwear project by donating clean, new underwear to support displaced communities.
Contributions can be dropped off at one of their drop-off points here, at RMG office or financial donations can be made via the Hope and Aid Direct Donate Page.
“We love the response this event is getting from our local community – people genuinely want to help.
"Huge thanks to the fantastic teams at The Oak Barn restaurant and The Woolpack for their sweet donation of fizz, mulled wine and mince pies,” adds Aneela.
Every pair or penny helps to make a difference.
