Toploader To Headline Eastbourne Eco Festival In July

The brand new E-Festival will feature headliners Toploader with a DJ set from Craig Charles, from July 29-31.

This brand new, family-friendly festival will combine street food with live music with the aim of giving tips on living an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

It'll be held over three sites at the Western Lawns, Wish Tower Slopes and Princes Park in Eastbourne.

The Princes Park site is a free event hosting climate exhibitors, children's play zone, live music, a beer garden and street food with a display of electric cars as well as cycles and motorbikes.

At Wish Tower, which is also free, you'll find a street food village with vegetarian and plant-based options, local food stands and market traders.

And finally, at Western Lawns, which is a ticketed area, there will be live music headlined on Saturday night by Toploader and on Sunday by Craig Charles, along with support acts, including the Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra - tickets are priced between £9 and £26.

It'll be Toploaders first gig in their hometown for 10 years. Joe Washbourn, Toploader lead singer said:

“After growing up and beginning our musical journey in Eastbourne we are super excited to be returning to play at E-Festival.

"It’s been over ten years since we last played in the town and we're proud to be supporting a brand new festival with such a strong eco ethos at its core. See you on the Western Lawns on 30th July… we can’t wait!”

The Eastbourne Climate Coalition will also host the ‘e-hive’, a pop-up climate hub hosting talks, presentations and workshops by local community groups at the Princes Park site.

Eastbourne Borough Council’s lead member for Tourism and Culture Councillor Margaret Bannister said:

"With the importance of reducing carbon emissions and reversing affects of climate change. alongside Eastbourne's ambition to become a net carbon zero town by 2030, this brand new eco festival is a great opportunity to engage with the public in a fun and informative way."

Eco friendly initiatives will be taking place throughout the festival, with water refill points, biodegradable cups and cutlery at food vendors and an emphasis on recycling. Visitors are also encouraged to explore eco-friendly methods of transport including the dedicated Park & Ride scheme and travelling to the festival by train.
