Two people have been arrested after police uncovered a cannabis farm at a property in Eastbourne on Saturday (May, 23).

Officers said they responded to reports of cannabis plants being grown at an address in Cavendish Pace, at around 10am.

On entering the premises, officers said 87 mature plants across three different rooms were discovered, with a further 77 immature plants in the loft.

A 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of producing a Class B drug.

They were released on conditional bail until June 19.

Inspector Rachel Barrow said:

"This is another example of the work going on to make Eastbourne a hostile and unwelcome place for people looking to grow, sell and distribute drugs.

"This criminality will not be tolerated and we will continue to take action, listening to the information fed to us through our communities and using our own police intelligence to identify those responsible."
