Two Arsonists Plead Guilty To Sussex Attacks

Two young men pleaded guilty at Hove Crown Court today (June 8) after over a million pounds worth of damage was caused during a spree of arson attacks from June to November 2021.

Connor Luck, 21, of Balls Green in Withyam was charged with two counts of arson and Joshua Brinkley, 19, of Southfield in Polegate was charged with seven counts.

The first attack was aimed at a derelict building in Horsham's Broadwater Lane in late June 0f 2021.

Then in early July, East Sussex Fire & Rescue were called to another derelict building, this time in Wivelsfield in the early hours of the morning. 

In late August, the East Sussex fire service were called to two deliberate attacks in Lower Willingdon. The two buildings targeted had been holding farm machinery.

In early November, a large barn fire was reported off the A26 at Beddingham.

A couple of days later, hay bales were set alight at a vineyard in Alfriston Road, Alfriston.

Again, a couple of days later, two barns were set alight in Tarring Neville.

The next day the police and fire service were alerted to a car on fire in Lewes Road, Ringmer.

And later that day, a road was closed in Litlington after hay bales were again set on fire in a field. 

The pair will be sentenced in early August.
