Police have released the identity of the two men who were found dead in coastal waters after an unoccupied dinghy was discovered floating in the sea off Shoreham on Monday afternoon (10 August).
Coastguards, RNLI volunteers and police carried out an extensive search and rescue operation after the discovery.
Later on Monday afternoon, the Shoreham RNLI inshore lifeboat crew located the body of Harry Garrood, 51, from Brighton in the water at Hove.
During enquiries to confirm the identity of Mr Garrood, it became apparent that his friend was also missing.
The search continued at sea on Monday evening and resumed on Tuesday morning.
Around 8.45am, the crew of a Coastguard helicopter spotted a body in the water near Shoreham Beach.
The Shoreham lifeboat crew recovered the remains using their all-weather lifeboat.
The deceased person has been identified as Matthew Stoneley, 46, and also from Brighton.
The deaths are not being treated as suspicious and have been passed to the coroner.
