Two suspects have been charged with a burglary in Littlehampton, the day after a woman reported that her vehicle and other valuable property had been taken.

Police said the charges followed an investigation by Chichester and Arun's Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

On Friday (February 12), officers received a report of the victim returning to her home in Thorncroft Road — where she found her vehicle, jewellery and a number of electrical items had been taken.

But the next day, members of the Roads Policing Unit located the vehicle at the McDonald's in the Crossbush Services, where the A27 dual-carriageway becomes a single carriageway east of Arundel.

After spotting the suspect vehicle, at 2.30pm on Saturday, officers arrested the two occupants.

Police then carried out a search at an address, and found further property believed to belong to the victim.

Thomas Brown, 33, of West Way, Littlehampton and David Cotton, 38, of Windrum Close, Horsham, were charged with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

According to officers, they were remanded to appear at Crawley Magistrates' Court today (February 15).
