Two men arrested in connection with murder investigation in Brighton

Police have arrested two men in connection with a murder investigation, following the stabbing of a man in Brighton early this morning (Wednesday, 11). Officers were called to a flat in Stafford Road at 1.58am after a report of a disturbance. Police said they forced entry to the premises where they found a man, believed to be in his 40s, with serious head and chest injuries. He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before 4am, according to police. Officers said as they entered the flat, two men escaped from the back of the building and made off across gardens at the back of Stafford Road. Police detained two men in Exeter Street shortly after 2.30am. A 44-year-old man from Brighton and a 45-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and remain in custody at this time. Police said cordons have been established around the scenes in Stafford Road and Exeter Street, while searches and forensic examinations at both locations remain underway. Officers said the victim has yet to be identified. Anyone with information about him or the incident is asked to call 101, quoting Operation Barnfield.
