Two men who jumped off Brighton's Palace Pier into low tidal water last Sunday (Aug 28) remain in hospital.
There was a multi-agency response to the incident, that saw emergency services at the scene, including, police, ambulance, lifeboat, lifeguards and coastguards.
The water was reported to have been at low tide at the time they jumped, estimated at being just over a meter deep.
The incident was reported over national media yesterday, with The Mail Online saying that one of the victims was "feared dead".
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said:
"Two men have been taken to hospital having reportedly jumped into the sea from Brighton Palace Pier.
"Police were alerted to the incident at about 6.55pm on Sunday, August 28.
"Officers supported emergency service partners at the scene and the men were left in the care of the ambulance service and taken to hospital."
