Two men taken to hospital after stabbing in Durrington

Two men have been taken to hospital following a stabbing in Durrington at the weekend. The victims are thought to have got into a taxi at the taxi rank in Chapel Road, Worthing town centre, at around 00.30am on Sunday (January, 12). Police believe they were dropped off at Whitebeam Road, Durrington, between 00.40am and 00.51am where they were attacked by two men. Officers said the victim suffered a stab wound to the chest and was left in a serious but not life-threatening condition in hospital. The other victim was stabbed in the abdomen and suffered minor injuries. A taxi driver, who was not pre-booked, could be a key witness of the case, according to the force. Officers said it was a white car and driven by a male. PC Charlotte Carter said: "We have a dedicated response to reduce instances of knife crime and serious violence in Sussex. "We place extra hi-vis patrols where and when they are needed and try to intervene before criminality gets as far as serious violence. "This includes visits to schools and engagement with young people, and roadshows across Sussex to engage with local communities to inform and educate residents and visitors." Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting serial 46 of 12/01.
