Two men taken to hospital following incident reportedly involving a gun in East Grinstead

Two men have been taken to hospital following an incident in East Grinstead yesterday (Tuesday, 14), reportedly involving weapons. Police said they were called to Moat Road at around 1.30pm, where one man was found with an injury to his mouth and another man with a serious head injury. The man with an injured head was airlifted to hospital. Officers said his condition was understood as not life-threatening. The other man was taken to hospital by road ambulance, both were conscious and breathing when they left the scene. Police said they are 'keeping an open mind' as to what caused the injuries. DCI Emma Vickers said: "We are aware that initial reports suggested that a gun may have been involved and we are awaiting further information about the nature of the injuries and witness statements to establish whether that was the case. "Up to four people left the scene in a grey Fiat 500 and enquiries are now under way to establish their identities and the location of that vehicle. "We believe that this incident was confined to these six individuals." Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting Operation Deerhurst.
