Two Pedestrians Seriously Injured In Copthorne Collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after two pedestrians were seriously injured in a collision in Copthorne.

A grey Vauxhall Vivaro van was travelling southbound on Copthorne Bank on a right-hand bend, near to Francis Court Care Home, when the incident occurred about 9.55am on Saturday, May 18.

The pedestrians – a 77-year-old local man and a 68-year-old local woman – were both taken to hospital for treatment where they remain in a stable condition.

The driver of the van – an 80-year-old man from Horley in Surrey – was uninjured.

An investigation is underway and anyone who saw what happened, or captured the incident on CCTV or dash cam, is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Wicker.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV covering Copthorne Bank north of the allotments, or Redehall Road south of Smallfield village.
