Two Rescued After Tender Capsizes In Chichester Harbour

Two people have been rescued after their tender capsized at Bosham yesterday (Thursday 11).

Coastguard teams from Selsey and Hayling were called to reports of people shouting for help after their tender capsized at around 6pm.

One casualty was pulled from the water by a passing vessel and brought ashore and handed over to rescue teams.

The second casualty was also pulled out of the water by another vessel and transferred to the Hayling Inshore Lifeboat.

They were brough ashore and handed over to the Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team who were able to check them both over.

Blankets were given to the casualties to help keep them warm as they had been in the water for some time and were very cold.

An ambulance was requested and paramedics later checked them over and confirmed they were ok after being warmed up in the back of the emergency vehicle.

The Selsey Coastguard team thanked the first informants for calling the incident in and urged people going out on the water to always werar a lifejacket.

They said:

"The coast and the sea can catch you out whether you're local or not.

"Our message remains: call 999 Coastguard if you're in trouble.

"Please help us and our families stay safe.

"Be aware of the risks, keep your distance."
